Pio Pico State Historic Park needs your help! With budget cuts and staff reductions, the park relies even more on its volunteers to help keep the gates open and host public and school tours and events. The good news is that you can help by becoming a state park volunteer today!
Our next Volunteer Training will be held at the park on Saturday, February 19th at 12:30 PM. Pio Pico State Historic Park offers many opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds. Learn how to give public and school tours, serve as a museum host, care for museum collections, tend to historic gardens, or do living history. There is something for everyone! No previous experience necessary.
Pio Pico State Historic Park is located on the corner of Pioneer and Whittier Boulevards, just West of the 605 freeway. The park features Pio Pico’s historic adobe ranch home, historic Victorian gardens, fruit orchards, and picnic facilities. The park is currently open to the public on weekends 9:30 am – 4 pm. School tours are also offered on Thursdays and Fridays by appointment only. Admission to the park is free!
This Volunteer Training will feature experts on:
- California State Parks
- California History
- The Life of Pio de Jesus Pico IV
- Giving Tours
- Developing Your Historical Character and Costume
- Performing Living History
